The FOVM has a voting Board of Directors and a nonvoting Advisory Board. The FOVM Board meets at 10:00 a.m. on the second Saturday of each month except during August and December, unless there is the need for official business during those months. The Annual Meeting is the second Saturday in April. All FOVM members and donors are invited to attend.

The goals of the FOVM are

  1. to raise funds for the preservation and operation of the Villa Montezuma Museum;

  2. to enhance public education about this historic, architectural, and cultural resource; and

  3. to operate the Villa in compliance with the American Alliance of Museum standards.

Subcommittees include

  1. Restoration

  2. Education/Outreach/Events

  3. Finance/Business/Fundraising

The FOVM Board understands the joys and challenges of operating a museum within a historic inner city neighborhood.  We thank all the great support we have from the many downtown organizations and from the area residents. Since the Villa opened in 1972 it has always been more than a house museum; it is part of the celebrations and fabric of the community. The FOVM is grateful to all those who helped make the 2021 museum reopening possible.

Shep Wickham

John Wickham, better know as “Shep”  to all, was a longtime employee of the San Diego Historical Society (now the San Diego History Center) who was the live-in docent and caretaker at the Villa for over seven years. Shep passed in March 2012. He’s the one we quote when we say

“it’s not haunted,

it’s ENCHANTED.”

In his final days, Shep offered to come back and REALLY haunt the Villa. We welcome his kind presence.
