Membership Brochure

The Friends of the Villa Montezuma, Inc. (FOVM) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit public benefit corporation devoted solely to the ongoing restoration and operation of the Villa Montezuma House Museum. Our mission is to raise funds for the preservation and operation of the Villa Montezuma, to educate people about this architectural and cultural resource, and to operate the museum under the Accreditation Standards of the American Alliance of Museums (AAM). Our diverse group includes people from all across the country who love this unique, romantic house museum.

The FOVM began serving the Villa when it opened in 1972 and became an official auxiliary group of the San Diego Historical Society in 1976. In 2006 the FOVM incorporated as its own nonprofit to better help the Villa with funding. In 2009 the San Diego Historical Society, now known as the San Diego History Center, gave up operation of the museum. In 2021 the FOVM looks forward to taking on this role.
